Bike and Tattoo Show
by Liz Leggett
Those with a passion for the worlds of tattooing, custom cars and bikes have adopted a colourful and vibrant lifestyle. And it’s in Laval, in Quebec, that these worlds meet. This is the place where artists who have modified and personalized their custom cars, bikes or skin, to reflect their tastes and styles, gather. For sixteen years, the Bike and Tattoo Show has been a celebration of the art and craftsmanship that makes up this worldwide community.
The Dutch Mason Blues Festival
by Charlie Lessard
This festival honours Dutch Mason, the Nova Scotia singer and guitarist nicknamed “The Prime Minister of the Blues” who passed away in 2006 at the age of 68 due to complications with diabetes. Event organizer David DeWolfe says that this event started small a decade ago in Dartmouth but has since grown into an electrifying three-day event that never ceases to astonish. And being that I took part in this event I can assure you that toe tappin’, hip swinging, hand clapping as well as high spirits were the order of the day! As an added plus, this gig also features custom and classic motorcycles, barbe- cues, acoustic music jams, a tattoo competition, vendors, apparels, great food and much more. “Blues, bikes and barbecue, what more can you ask for,” said David.
