Spawn
Rat Shop, builder of « Spawn »
From the dark streets of Val
St-Côme arises Spawn, the prince
of darkness, the tortured saviour.
Such an animal, its blood red cape
takes life as it forms and shields,
creating this roaring machine
straight out of hell covered with
sharp aggressive edges that
no thief would dare to defy.
Frédéric Vaillancourt, owner of
the “Rat Shop” and builder of this
street beast, was inspired by a
popular American comic strip
created twenty years ago by Todd
McFarlane. This comic book
series depicts the adventures
of a dark vigilante who tries to
provide good despite the fact
that his powers come from the
depths of hell. He is a henchman
for the devil. It is this duality,
this split between good and evil
that makes this character so
interesting.
In order to pay tribute to this
tormented knight in black
armour, Vaillancourt wanted
to create a machine with pure
aggressive lines and a powerful
engine equipped with a Rat
Shop supercharger. Hard-hitting
and dominant! Two wheels?
Bah! Why ...
Dead Lotus
Pierre Gratton
André Sylvestre, builder of « Dead Lotus »
After many years of constructing for various shops and customers, the time had come to
start my very own project. This project would include my tastes and my ideas. I wanted
something different and revolutionary, especially when it came to the frame. I wanted
a dependable bike that would bring on hours of riding pleasure but particularly, it
had to have a “killer” look.
During a trip to Las Vegas to attend a bike show (and of course stop at
the casinos), my good friend André Sylvestre and I crossed paths with
people from Tempest Cycles, a bike shop from Florida. We were
very impressed by one of their custom bikes, and their frame
design really caught my eye. After two weeks of reflection,
we travelled down to Florida to visit the Tempest shop.
There and then, we made the decision to use one
of their frames as the foundation for our first
project. We also negotiated a contract to
become their Canadian distributor.
We were very excited at the
start of this project ...

Opportunity koncks but once, follow your dreams,
plant a seed and watch
it grow, keep your nose
to the grindstone. When
in doubt whip it out! Sure, sure we’ve
all heard those timeless clichés about
“going for it” in life. How many people
break free from the rat race to build
their own wheel and start spinning
it? The only problem is that when it’s
your own wheel there are no more easy
feed pellets. Most people can probably
admit that they had a dream as far as
owning their own business. How many
wish they could go back in time and
choose “that other career”?
People tend to romance about working in
the high revving motorcycle industry, and
even more so working for Harley Davidson.
However once all the romance of working
in the industry becomes a reality, things
tend to get repetitive (even at a dealership)
and limit the potential for full custom
work. This happened to be the case with
Cordell and Adrian as they felt ...
